Tessa Janes

Tessa Janes is from Louisville, Kentucky by way of Piner, Kentucky.

Tessa's works reflect the mystery and connection found in the natural world, as well as an overlap of Earth and Heaven, the past present and future together in one place. They explore places, people and things that are dear and special now, and what they may look like with unveiled eyes. Her works express a desire to see more clearly what is felt and known.  To experience what is hoped for.

Cyanotype is a photographic printing process. This method is often used to create traditional blueprints, as well as botanical prints. A photosensitive chemical solution is prepared and brushed on a surface, then dried in the dark. Portions of the surface are then masked, and the surface is exposed to light for a period of time.  The surface is rinsed with water to create the print.

Monoprints were created using acrylic paint on wood panel. They feature landscape imagery overlaid with hexagons, which function as unseen structures - physical, chemical and emotional in nature. This work represents a holding together of all things, a lens of mystery, and transcendent wonder.
